Even according to French standards the area offers a magnificent selection of cultural and leisure activities. Below we have compiled a list of places, which we recommend visiting. If you set out to explore the nature and history of Provence, you can start here.

  • Ganagobie

    Monast?re de Ganagobie
    Just North of Villeneuve you find the old monastery Ganagobie with its beautiful church and fabulous view of Montagne de Lure and the Alps.

    Ganagobie Lurs en Provence
    Time stopped several hundred years ago in this tiny little village. The caf? or the little restaurant with the exquisite view of the Durance valley should be explored.

    Valensole Valensole
    Valensole is the world capital of lavender production. When the harvest starts in July the air is saturated with lavender fragrance and MUST be experienced!

    Citadel The Citadel Notre Dame in Forcalqier
    High over the town of Forcalquier raises the octo-shaped Citadel Notre Dame de Provence. There is a lovely walk up to it through the narrow streets.

    Manosque Manosque - behind the walls
    The town centre in Manosque originate in the middle age and fashion shops, butchers, antique shops and cafes lie side by side in its narrow, winding streets.

    Kogletog The Pine Cone train - from Digne to Nice
    The little train running from Digne-les-Bains to Nice provides a wonderful day out. 151 km through gorges and over bridges. There is also a small steam train.

    Les Vannades Swimming in Les Vannades
    Les Vannades is a large lake close to Manosque offering wide sand beaches with barbeque areas. You can also rent sailing boats and play volleyball and mini golf.

    Via Domitia at Mane Via Domitia
    The Romans build Via Domitia from Rome to the South of Spain. The road can still be seen at Mane, Lurs, Ganagobi and Sisteron. A Taverne was build by Mane.
